John is a lecturer in Energy Sciences and head of Energy Resources department under Ndata School of Climate and Earth Sciences. He holds PhD and MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch, respectively.

Dr Taulo has initiated and implemented a number of development projects in energy, biomass, bioenergy and solar photovoltaic in rural communities in Malawi.

He has been responsible for providing leadership, direction and control of activities of the research and development section through supervision of personnel and projects.

Dr Taulo lectures solar thermal energy, hydropower, wind energy, bioenergy and engineering design.
