By Dr Bennett Kankuzi
Two postgraduate students in the Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) Department at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) recently presented research papers in Mauritius.
The students presented double blind reviewed research papers at the Next Generation Computing Applications (NextCOMP2024) conference which was hosted by the University of Mauritius between October 24 and 26, 2024.
Accompanied by their main supervisor, Dr Bennett Kankuzi, who is also Head of CSIT at MUST, the students presented some of the outputs from their research work of the past two years.
Innocent Chilomo, an MSc in Data Science student, who graduated during MUST’s 5th Congregation on October 17, 2024, presented on customs fraud detection using Machine Learning.
On his part, Isaac Munthali, an MSc in Computer Science student, presented on using game theory in prioritising goals in software requirements engineering.
These peer reviewed papers are published in IEEE Xplore library.
Their other research outputs have also been accepted for presentation and publication at the Southern African Conference on Artificial Intelligence Research (SACAIR2024) in Bloemfontein, South Africa slated for December 2024.
