Dr Zimba selected to prestigious global AI initiative

The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) is delighted to announce that Dr Michael Zimba has been selected to participate in the International AI Compute Faculty Development initiative.
The programme is jointly spearheaded by the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI) and the African Union’s Africa Scientific Research and Innovation Council (AU-ASRIC) and Peking University.
It aims to enhance academic and scientific capacity in artificial intelligence across the African continent.
The honour highlights Dr Zimba’s distinguished academic journey, his consistent dedication to advancing research, and his significant contributions to the growth of higher education and the promotion of innovation.
Dr Zimba is an Executive Dean for the Malawi Institute of Technology (MIT) at MUST and a globally recognised AI expert.
Through his involvement, Dr Zimba is poised to make meaningful contributions to the advancement of AI expertise across Africa, while also fostering stronger global scientific partnerships and facilitating the sharing of knowledge.
The recognition not only honours his individual accomplishments but also underscores MUST's growing global visibility and expanding influence in research and innovation.
