Dr Nampota joined MUST in August 2013, initially on secondment from the University of Malawi (UNIMA) where he was serving as Deputy University Registrar.
He joined MUST as a Project Coordinator and contributed hugely to the opening of the new University. He was pivotal in setting up the academic and administrative structures of the new university including the development of management and administrative operational systems; the procurement of goods and services; the recruitment of management, teaching and administrative staff and facilitated the admission of the university’s first undergraduate and postgraduate students in March, 2014 and its eventual official opening on October 24, 2014.
Dr Nampota was later on December 1, 2014 appointed as the first University Registrar of MUST. He is a seasoned and an accomplished higher education management practitioner and researcher. He holds a PhD in Higher Education Management and Governance obtained from Rhodes University in South Africa; a Master’s degree in Public Administration from University of Botswana and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration from University of Malawi. He also has acquired professional training in higher education management and governance from Israel, South Africa, China, United Kingdom and the United States of America. His research interest is in higher education governance.
